AdvancedTCA® is a collaboration of major telecom OEMs and
suppliers to create an optimal platform for telecom infrastructure
equipment that provides an open specification based solution with
an ecosystem of off-the-shelf functions in hardware and software
required to implement highly available equipment.
Emerson's Katana® KAT6200
is an AdvancedTCA server node based upon dual high performance
Intel Xeon LV5100 series (Woodcrest) processors, enterprise/carrier
grade Linux® support, and flexible AdvancedMC expansion. The
KAT6200 server blade is ready for the most demanding telecom applications
with features such as persistent memory for event logging and redundant
firmware for protection against unsuccessful firmware field upgrades.
KAT6200’s AdvancedMC (AMC.0 R2.0) mid-size expansion slot
gives telecom OEMs access to a wealth of third party AdvancedMCs
for I/O, storage, and co-processing. This off-the-shelf expansion
capability makes it easy to configure the KAT6200 for a wide variety
of control and packet processing applications including application
server and database intensive applications in wireless infrastructure.
In telecom network elements, system management is essential to
support high availability. KAT6200 is an intelligent FRU and implements
a redundant System Management Bus (SMB). It also fully supports
the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) with AdvancedTCA
extensions to support standards-based shelf management.
